The one thing girls aged 10 and eleven have in common is that they go to school. 

Carmen Colon attended John Williams  (School No: 5), Wanda Walkowicz went to Robert Clemente (School No: 8), and Michelle Maenza was a pupil at John James Audubon (School No: 33). 

If we look at the first two victims and their schools, interesting patterns emerge – Carmen attended a school named after a man whose surname began with the letter ‘W’. In contrast, the man’s surname associated with Wanda’s school started with the letter ‘C’. Adding W to C gives 26 or twice the sum of the school numbers.

Michelle went to John James Audubon (School No. 33), where the given and middle names began with the letter ‘J’, the 10th letter of the alphabet. Thus, when we add the school’s name and number, we get two 13s – the two 10s added to the two 3s. Moreover, as ‘M’ is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet, we can write two thirteens as ‘MM’ or Michelle’s initials. 

The number of 2:1 relationships generated by the schools’ names and numbers is extraordinary.
